Wiener Gemischter Satz is a longstanding & prominent tradition in Viennese viticulture. Three or more grape varieties such as Riesling, Grüner Veltliner, Traminer & Weissburgunder grow together & ripen in a colourful mix in the vineyard, and then are harvested at the same time and vinified together. The varieties express their individual characteristics in a different way each year, depending on the disposition of the vintage, and come together to yield a distinctive wine. The WienWein winegrowers have redefined & ennobled this old treasure, helping it to make a rousing comeback. Today, Wiener Gemischter Satz is the most highly regarded sort of Viennese wine.
THE WIENWEIN SAMPLERS
»Liesenpfennig« is the name of the historic vineyard that actually flourished on the grounds of Schönbrunn Palace during the Habsburg Monarchy. Later forgotten, it was revived & brought back into production by the WienWein growers. Faithful to tradition, a good number of different varieties are growing here in a colourful mix. And these rare bottles are only available at auction!

ONLINE AUCTION FOR THE BENEFIT OF SOS CHILDREN’S VILLAGE IN VIENNA
Some five hundred vines are growing here, bearing the varieties Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Welschriesling, Neuburger, Weissburgunder, Zierfandler & Rotgipfler. Every year, a different WienWein winemaker is responsible for vinification, and the wine is sold exclusively via online auction. What one must have, however, is not only an interest in Viennese wine but also a joy in giving, because from the very beginning, net proceeds have been donated to the SOS Children’s Village in Vienna.
